Because of their simple design, B-vent fireplaces do not do a sufficient job of heating a large room like a family room or living room. They can heat smaller rooms like bedrooms, but make sure you check building codes to see if a B-vent fireplace is approved in your locality or for installation in the room where you'd like to use it.
