If you choose a gas stove, you’ll be choosing among B-Vent, Direct Vent, and Vent Free stoves. B-vent stoves take air needed for combustion from the area surrounding the stove and expel the results up a chimney that runs the full height of the home. Direct vent stoves use a double wall venting system that draws outside air through the outer perimeter and then exhausts back through the center – though this can be vented through the wall with the termination cap on the side of the house, not just through the roof. Vent free stoves require no pipes or chimneys and can therefore be placed in several locations where it is impossible to put a stove that requires venting. If you're not interested in a gas stove, a wood burning stove or a pellet stove is an option for you. Wood burning stoves are classic and timeless and generally burn cleanly to help keep the environment clean. Pellet stoves are reliable and efficient and are also environmentally friendly.
